The Coach - Nathan Neary
For over 25 years I’ve competed in touch football at regional, state, and national level. I know what it takes to perform at the highest level of a sport. But the coaching that has meant the most to me has never happened at that level. It’s happened with the kid who hangs back. The one who isn’t sure they belong on a sports field. The one whose parent quietly hopes that someone will notice them and help them believe they belong Over more than a decade of coaching juniors, I’ve seen that kid transform — not just physically, but in the way they carry themselves, the way they talk about sport, and the way they start to believe something different about what they’re capable of. That’s why Athletic Foundations exists. Movement and skills — speed, agility, coordination and body awareness — are coachable. Every child can develop them. But they develop fastest in an environment where effort is celebrated, progress is visible, and no athlete is left wondering if they’re good enough. What I’ve learned across 25 years of competing and a decade of coaching is simple: Athletes who move well perform better. And athletes who feel confident in their movement carry that confidence into everything else they do. Athletic Foundations exists to help young athletes build that foundation.
